When you have a young family, there’s no need to stage your photographs; reality is beautiful enough.
And my aim is to capture as much of your reality as possible, in a relaxed and fun way.
Honest, Spontaneous, Perfectly imperfect
There’s no posing here, no worrying about the kids behaviour or willingness to co-operate!
No cheesy smiles, just genuine laughter.
And as kids grow up so quickly, when we look back it’s the littlest things we hold dear, so with your session there’ll be no moving toys out of shot, no stopping to re-brush hair, no clearing the favourite cup off the table. Life moves fast, too fast to pose for photos, and so I want to tell the story of you and your every day.
These sessions serve as markers in time, remembering forgotten details and hazy memories as the kids grow up so quickly.
Documentary, or photojounalism, photography differs greatly from lifestyle sessions. It’s real life; unposed and unplanned. Lifestyle photography is absolutely gorgeous, but its the story telling nature of photojournalism is what excites me and where my passion lies.
I am not a perfect person, and my home is not show home! Documentary photography isn’t about having an ‘instragrammable’ living room. It’s not about whether your kitchen is straight out of a pinterest board. It’s about what happens inside the home! Piles of strewn lego and overflowing toyboxes play perfectly into my world of relaxed family photography.
Often the ‘outtakes’ are the highlights of the gallery, and the happiness radiates through genuine moments of fun!
Family photojournalism sessions are all about love-filled hugs, in-jokes, favourite games and much loved toys.
It’s the well chewed teddy, the faded paw patrol cups, or a brew in your favourite mug.
It’s muddy hands & mucky faces.
Meal times, baby feeds, nappy changes and runny noses.
It’s the tying of shoes, fierce sibling rivalry and the inevitable wiping of tears we as parents handle without even noticing anymore. These are the moments that pass so soon and mean so much.
Playtime – Bedtime – Meal time… Treasured Family time
I offer a variety of session formats depending on how much of your family time you want to capture.
Family Photography and Day In The Life Of Sessions
Typical family photography session times are 2 hours, with ‘Day In The Life Of’ sessions usually spanning 6, 12 or 24 hours.
These sessions work great in your family home, or on a trip to your favourite park, beach or location. I can travel anywhere and we can plan your session for any time of the day (or night!), so just drop me a line and we can make it happen!
On holiday in Norfolk and making the most of school holidays with the kids? Or maybe you’re a Norfolk dweller venturing further afield either in Britain or abroad? Why not remember your trip in a very special way with a holiday photography session.
I can join you for any of the session times mentioned above, or over a weekend or longer. Let’s chat about your vacation plans and all the amazing memories you want to capture!
Maternity, Newborn and First Days Photography
My approach to Newborn Photography is from a storytelling photojournalism perspective. Your first days as a family are precious times, and I love being welcomed along to capture sibling meetings and adjusting to life with a new member of the family.
These sessions make a great addition to my Birth Photography sessions, or as part of my Year In The Life Of sessions (see below).
A year in the life of
A series of 4 sessions over the course of a year, this is a great way I remember key years for your family such as your baby’s first year, or a year with big events like a house move or school change planned!
Sessions often centre around an activity; such as a visit to a park or beach, making a meal/baking, playing in the garden, getting ready to go out/bed, or maybe a family games session. Or it can simply be a few hours of your everyday!
I meet you at your home or chosen location, we can have a cup of tea and break the ice as the kids get used to me being there with a camera. I’ll become like a member of the family for our time together, integrating into the fun to capture the moments as they unfold.
About 2 weeks later we’ll get together for a viewing and ordering session, where you’ll enjoy seeing all your images and choosing your favourites for your album and prints.
Stand alone session fee start at £250 for 2 hours, which includes £100 product ordering credit. Collections are available to provide even greater value for money across a number of sessions or products.get in touch See more
